Backxwash, Beach Body, Bleu Nuit. Choses Sauvages, Magi Merlin, Naya Ali, SLM, Yoo Doo Right and Zoon are among the 20 artists that will be performing this year.
Following their reinvented and virtual 15th edition last year, M For Montreal is set to return this November with in-person events.There will be an extensive professional and hybrid program that will take place virtually from November 15 to 26 and in-person from November 17 to 19.
Music
In terms of the performances, they will take place either to a live audience or through a filmed production in collaboration with Parce Que Films and Pestacle who worked on last year’s alluring virtual edition. The Official Selection of artists are mainly Quebecois with additions such as Saskatchewan’s Beach Body and Toronto’s Zoon, who is shortlisted for the 2021 Polaris Prize.

Conference
The favoured virtual networking sessions M for Mixer and The Supervision Department, which consists of meetings with leading global music supervisors will be taking place. As well, M for Montreal will introduce three panels: WTF: What’s the Future, Music and Technology as well as Empowering Independence. The discussions will be led by international decision-makers in the music industry and professionals with the focus of changing the working conditions within music. They will tackle issues such as equality, diversity and inclusion; the deep shift of contemporary music journalism and its impact on music, the new model for post-pandemic festivals, virtual reality and crypto in music, technology-assisted creation as well as the maintenance of independent venues and promoters. There will also be various workshops addressing issues surrounding nightlife, the issue of rights and branding in the era of prominent digital platforms.
M For Montreal Events
The festival will also present two events in collaboration with local industry players and promoters for two special events:
Fleece at Bar Le Ritz on November 19th in collaboration with Blue Skies Turn Black.
Sunglaciers, SEULEMENT, Hot Garbage, Visibly Chocked, and Crabe at Sala Rosa on November 19th, presented by Mothland.
