Laura Glover who is known for her work in Saint-Lo, a Montreal-based indie quartet has ventured off to pursue a solo career, releasing her upcoming EP under Laura Gray. Her debut single, “Break Drift,” which was produced and mixed by Dylan Konrad Obront, undoubtedly sets the tone for the upcoming project, presenting many layers and textures. The self-proclaimed “gloom pop” artist blends both folk music with hints of melancholy as the subtle arrangements complimenting her voice build up gradually. In terms of the songs context, ‘Break, drift.’ focusses on dysfunctional relationships and how being removed from that toxic situation, opening possibilities for new beginnings and letting go. The track consists of subtle saxophone and guitar elements, leaving the vocals to be prominent.
Laura Gray has two upcoming hometown shows at The Diving Bell Social Club. Her first gig will take place in March 15th and the following show which will be her EP release gig will take place on May 16th. More details regarding these shows will come shortly.
