The UK-based DJ and producer made a stop at the SAT on her current “Junglist World Tour” with HiTech and zillion.

Nia Archives has been on quite the run over the past couple of years. Following the release of her well-awaited debut album, Silence is Loud, this past spring, along with a string of festival dates, the esteemed junglist has mapped out a North American tour. Alongside detroit rap trio HiTech and Atlanta-based DJ zillion, the UK DJ/producer treated the audience to a high-octane show.

zillion kicked off the night with a groovy DJ set, spinning classics old and new as the audience slowly began to pack the room. Up and coming Detroit trio HiTech brought a change of pace with their eclectic set. Their unique blend of rap, techno and ghettotech made for a unique performance. The first half of their show consisted of a DJ set which had all four corners of the room bouncing. The three-piece slowly began incorporating their tracks into the mix before putting on a full-blown rap performance.

The energy in the room quickly shifted after the venue’s LED screens began to flash Nia Archives’ logo, directing the audience’s attention to the stage. Under a minimalistic backdrop featuring glitchy, pop-culture related images, Nia Archives began to turn out jungle remixes of pop songs paired with her own tunes.

The first half of her show was dedicated to mixes. Some of the songs incorporated into her set notably featured classics by Britney Spears and Gwen Stefani, the Sex in the City theme song and a cut from Charli XCX’s Brat. Her reworked version of “360” could have even been featured on the British pop star’s new remix record. Nia slowly began to perform her own songs halfway through her set to a hyped crowd. Most audience members even sang each of her songs back to her, from earlier singles such as “So Tell Me…” and “Forbidden Feelingz,” as well the newer material. Montreal is no stranger to the jungle revival has has taken off in recent years. Having one of the main purveyors of the movement truly made for a special night.
