Festival De Musique Émergente or FME festival, returns for its 19th from September 2nd to 5th and features tons of Canadian talent including Backxwash, Cadence Weapon, Marie Davidson and L’OEil Nu and The OBGMs.
This edition of Rouyn-Noranda’s FME will be a mix between last year’s COVID edition formula and the traditional format, meaning the festival will accommodate more people while implementing the same health and safety measures. Having bigger events and a more wide range of artists also accommodates more festival goers.
This year will bring on new elements as well such as outdoor site Poisson Volant and its stage, La Scène Desjardins, which will host multiple shows throughout September. The previous outdoor state located on 7e rue will now be replaced by an ephemeral venue on the peninsula of Osisko lake. Many other indoor venues that were key spaces for the festival including Cabaret de la Dernière Chance, Petit Théâtre du Vieux Noranda and Diable Rond, will host shows throughout this edition. As well, the Agora des arts space will also be replaced with Église Immaculée-Conception, as it is going through some changes. Once again, FME’s headquarters will take place at the Club de Curling.
As per usual, FME’s lineup consists of up and coming Canadian and Quebecois talent as well as more acclaimed ones for the perfect balance. There will be over 60 Quebecois artists alongside various talent from Toronto. The festival will welcome artists such as electro-cumbia singer Lido Pimienta, grunge-punk outfit Bad Waitress, Montreal’s Maky Lavender, Pierre Kwenders, No Joy DJ’s Gayance and Ouri as well as the acclaimed singer-songwriter Martha Wainwright. The festival’s diverse lineup will definitely cater to all music fans!
