Doom Metal Act Divide and Dissolve Announced New Album, Insatiable

The Melbourne-based duo’s upcoming LP, Insatiable, arrives April 18 via Bella Union.

Divide and Dissolve, helmed by composer and multi-instrumentalist Takiaya Reed, are set to release their new album, Insatiable, on April 18 via Bella Union. This upcoming release marks a sonic evolution, as the 10-track record consists of intricate compositions, characterized by sludgy guitars, roaring drums, and the inclusion saxophone.

The group returns today with “Provenance,” the LP’s hopeful and visceral lead single along with a new music video directed by Chichi Castillo. Takiaya Reed describes the track as “an examination of where things begin and how they can end.”

Divide and Dissolve’s musical ethos is based around honouring ancestry and indigenous sovereignty through the acknowledgement of colonial violence. Through a thunderous soundscape, the duo explore the dichotomy of destruction and compassion, while calling for a better future before it becomes too late.

Insatiable as an album titled was derived from a vision Takiaya had of a better world, riddled with optimism: “I saw and have felt the impact of people committing great acts of harm, causing pain in a never ending cycle. I have also seen and felt the strength and power of people committing great acts of love…It’s an album about love, and it feels important to experience this, now more than ever.”
