Zambian-Canadian rapper and producer Backxwash returns with her fourth album, Only Dust Remains, on March 28th, 2025 via her own Ugly Hag label. The LP follows her acclaimed trilogy comprised of the 2020 Polaris Music Prize winning, God Has Nothing To Do With This Leave Him Out Of It, 2021’s I Lie Here Buried With My Rings and My Dresses and the recent, His Happiness Shall Come First Even Though We Are Suffering from 2022. The triptych followed themes with regards to identity, faith and queerness, connected through introspective lyrics and a metal-infused soundscape.

Only Dust Remains marks a new beginning and features Backxwash’s most recent single, “Wake Up.” The layered and vulnerable acts as a preview to LP which details experiences of mourning, self-reflection, and mortality. The upcoming album showcases an evolution as the rapper through her powerful, intricate lyricism and sonic experimentation. A new era is underway for the multi-faceted artist.
