Featuring brand new tracks from Mdou Moctar, Hildegard, TVOD, Greentea Peng, and TEHYA

Following the release of his debut solo effort, Perceive its Beauty, Acknowledge its Grace, earlier this year, London-based multi-instrumentalist Shabaka Hutchings has returned with a new EP. Titled “Possession,” the six-track project features contributions from previous collaborator E L U C I D of Armand Hammer, along with André 3000, Esperanza Spalding, and billy woods . The blissful flute compositions serve as an expansion of his full-length record, adding another dimension to the transcendent project. Switching out his trusty sax for various flutes, Perceive its Beauty… was a reintroduction to the multi-faceted musician’s artistic exploration. “Possession” is a blissful, boundary-pushing body of work.

Essential tracks:

“Takoba” (Injustice Version) by Mdou Moctar

The prolific Tuareg guitarist and his band have offered up a new cut from their upcoming record, Tears of Injustice, a re-arranged and re-recorded rendition of their fiery album, Funeral for Justice, recorded in Agadez, Niger. “Takoba” (Injustice Version) plays a stripped back, live version of the folk song.

“No Other Mind” by Hildegard

Helena Deland and Ouri have released what they describe as their “tenderest Hildegard song.” “No Other Mind” is a sentimental one-of single that follows the duo’s latest record, Jour 1596.

“One Foot” by Greentea Peng

The UK-based neo soul artist has offered another emotive cut from her upcoming album, TELL DEM IT’S SUNNY. Greentea Peng attempts to move forward while reflecting on the arduous journey of breaking a vicious cycle.

“Car Wreck” by TVOD

Brooklyn rockers TVOD’s newest single is an ode to embracing the chaos. “Car Wreck” is an earworm impeccable guitarwork and a catchy chorus.

TEHYA “spoons for sweets”

LA-based  singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist is back with “spoons for sweets,” a lighthearted and sentimental tune that captures a bittersweet memory. “Spoons (for sweets) stems from such a hyper-specific memory of a man I met a while ago literally stealing a dessert spoon for me” says TEHYA about the song.
