La Sécurité Return with a Scorching New Single, “Detour” via Bella Union and Mothland

The Montreal-based art-rock collective have unveiled their first release with the Bella Union imprint.

Ahead of their upcoming US tour in support of The Go! Team, Montreal’s La Sécurité have returned with “Detour,” in The groovy, post-punk tinged track marks their first release via Bella Union. The rhythmic drums and prominent bass line immediately drawing in the listener. Alternating between English-language and French lyrics, La Sécurité deliver, a fun and up-beat earworm with their unique blend of Riot Grrrl-esque, off-kilter punk and new wave sound.

The band’s lead vocalist Éliane Viens-Synnott shares how “Detour” came about:

We recorded the song with an old friend of mine. It was with Renny [Wilson] that I first recorded, went on tour, etcetera. It was refreshing to watch him work on instincts, trying to keep takes and tones as natural as possible, keeping everything open-ended to see where it could lead us. We tried for the song to remain raw. Also, because we know each other so well, it seems to me that he already knew what our music should sound like.
