Montreal’s Population II have returned with “Comme tu le souhaites (Ding Dong),” a second preview of their upcoming EP, Serpent Échelle. The project arrives just months after the release of their excellent sophomore album, Électrons libres du québec.

With their latest effort, Serpent Échelle, the band embraces a heavier sound, leaning into metal. The EP’s focus track “Comme tu le souhaites (Ding Dong),” consists of a gritty, five and a half-minute odyssey characterized by the electric guitar riffs, slowly builds up to an explosive, orchestral crescendo. This new project sees Population II continuing with their ethos of improvised sonic chaos, further exploring new corners within their signature punk-tinged psychedelic rock sound.
